Besam's door automatics at Doncaster Transport Interchange

Besam was contracted to provide automatic entrances to the waiting areas for bus passengers at the Doncaster Transport Interchange, and integral part of Doncaster, UK’s Frenchgate Center urban renewal project.

The challenge was to create convenient and safe entrances for bus passengers who are likely to be carrying goods purchased at the large shopping mall that is integrated with the transport interchange.

In addition, wheelchair-friendly access to waiting areas and providing energy savings for the climate-controlled building were needed. The waiting passengers also needed protection from both the weather and exhaust fumes from bus traffic.

Besam was chosen as the supplier because of its expertise in transportation applications. A total of 38 Besam UniSlide Automatic Door Systems were recommended for their reliability and safety. Besam’s products were selected for form as well as function. 

The UniSlides complemented other elements of the broader Frenchgate Center Project, which includes an integrated train station, shopping mall and car park for visitors to the city center.
